This is an old family recipe and it never fails to please the crowd. With five different types of chips, peanut butter, and oatmeal all in one dough, these cookies satisfy everyone's sweet tooth. The best part about this recipe is that it is flexible. Replacesome of the chips with walnuts, pecans, toffee bits, you name it. As long as you keep the ratio of dough to chips/nuts consistent, the cookies will turn out fantastic. These cookies are some of the best you will every try to they are lots of fun to make with your children. Bake a batch today!
Garbage Can Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter or margarine softened
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
²/₃ cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup old fashioned oats
2 tsp baking soda
¹/₂ tsp salt
²/₃ cup of each: milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, vanilla chips, butterscotch chips
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, cream the butter, peanut butter and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla. Combine flour, oats, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in chips. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on to an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 1 minute before removing to wire racks. Yields 4 ¹/₂ dozen.
